Voices of Richmond hill- In person volunteer training August 6 – Zoom meeting August 14
As part of the Voices of Richmond Hill: A Cultural Documentary Initiative, ICTC Youth Foundation provided two volunteer training sessions:
📍 In-Person Training – August 6, 2026
💻 Zoom Training – August 14, 2026
During the training, volunteers were guided through the full interview process and their responsibilities when representing the project in the community. The sessions included a detailed review of the Interview Consent Form, Volunteer Conduct Guidelines, and Interview Worksheet, with explanations of how to obtain consent, communicate respectfully with participants, prepare for interviews, ask questions appropriately, and document information accurately.
Volunteers were also guided on professionalism, respectful behaviour, privacy, cultural sensitivity, teamwork, and how to interact confidently with community members from different backgrounds.
Beyond preparing volunteers to conduct interviews for the documentary, the training gave participants practical experience in real-world communication and community interaction. By meeting and interviewing members of the community, volunteers will strengthen valuable skills such as active listening, public speaking, confidence, responsibility, professionalism, and interpersonal communication.
These experiences can support volunteers in their future education, employment, leadership roles, and community involvement, while also helping them better understand the diverse people and cultures that make Richmond Hill a vibrant community.
